Snow Bros. Classic Collection, retro gaming, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PC, Limited Run Games, Snow Bros. NES, Mega Drive, Game Boy, arcade version, Snow Bros. 2, Limited Run Games Carbon Engine. Hey everyone, and welcome back to the channel! If you’re a fan of retro gaming, you’re going to want to stick around for this. Remember back when the ESRB leaked a listing for a new Snow Bros. collection? Well, it’s officially happening! Limited Run Games and Headless Chicken Games have just announced the Snow Bros. Classic Collection, and it’s coming to Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC via Steam. So, what's in the box? This collection packs in three beloved console versions of the 1990 Toaplan classic. You’ll get the NES version of Snow Bros., the Mega Drive and Genesis version titled Snow Bros. Nick & Tom, and the Game Boy version, Snow Bros. Jr. It’s a nostalgic trip back to the kingdom of Hottoda where brothers Nick and Tom have to save the princesses from the evil King Atchich. For those who love physical copies, Limited Run Games has you covered with two editions for Switch and PS5. The standard edition is priced at $34.99 and includes the game, a box, and a booklet. But if you want to go all out, there's the classic edition for $64.99. This one comes with a cool retro-NES style box, a poster, and the game's soundtrack. Pre-orders are open now, so you can grab yours if you're interested. The gameplay is exactly as you remember it: a classic fixed-screen platformer where you turn enemies into giant snowballs and roll them away. You’ll battle through levels, pick up power-ups for speed and shot strength, and face off against unique bosses. It’s that timeless, addictive action that made Snow Bros. an arcade hit. Whether you grew up with it in the 90s or you're just discovering it now, it's easy to see why this game is still so loved. Now, let's talk about what's not in the collection. And honestly, this is where I feel a little bit let down. The collection is missing the original arcade version of Snow Bros. and its sequel, Snow Bros. 2: With New Elves. This is a bit of a bummer, especially since the arcade original is what started it all. Why the omission? Well, it's likely because this collection is being built using Limited Run Games' Carbon Engine, which primarily focuses on console emulation right now. So, including the arcade versions might have been technically out of scope for this project. It makes sense, but it still feels like a missed opportunity to create the definitive Snow Bros. package. So, while it's fantastic to get these classic console ports preserved on modern hardware, the absence of the arcade games definitely leaves me wanting more. But what do you all think? Are you excited to pick up the Snow Bros. Classic Collection? Do you think the missing arcade games are a deal-breaker, or are you happy with the console versions on offer? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments below. I’m really curious to hear what the community thinks about this one.
