STORYLINE: An injured solider was rushed into a hospital in a Ukrainian-controlled part of the Donetsk region after it was rocked by new attacks on Monday. He was seeing being carried into the facility by other soldiers before receiving treatment by medical staff. The soldier's injury comes as intense fighting raged in the country's east, the vital Black Sea port of Odesa in the south came under bombardment again and Russian forces sought to finish off the Ukrainian defenders making their last stand at a steel plant in Mariupol. Russia has about 97 battalion tactical groups in Ukraine, largely in the east and the south, a slight increase over last week, according to a senior U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the Pentagon's assessment. At least one soldier was reported injured when a rocket hit Slovyansk, a city located 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) from Kramatorsk. The city, where just a few remained in the street, was covered by the sound of outgoing and incoming fire and sirens going on and off several times. At least four people had been killed and eight were injured in the Donetsk region on Sunday, after attacks were launched by Russian forces. Getting a full picture of the unfolding battle in the east has been difficult because airstrikes and artillery barrages have made it extremely dangerous for reporters to move around. Both Ukraine and the Moscow-backed rebels fighting in the east also have introduced tight restrictions on reporting from the combat zone. =========================================================== Clients are reminded: (i) to check the terms of their licence agreements for use of content outside news programming and that further advice and assistance can be obtained from the AP Archive on: Tel +44 (0) 20 7482 7482 Email: [email protected] (ii) they should check with the applicable collecting society in their Territory regarding the clearance of any sound recording or performance included within the AP Television News service (iii) they have editorial responsibility for the use of all and any content included within the AP Television News service and for libel, privacy, compliance and third party rights applicable to their Territory.
