My Trauma Is In Charge | In My Feelings, Episode 2 | Issac Curry

Your trauma didn’t create your identity. It introduced you to a version of yourself you never questioned. In Episode 2 of IN MY FEELINGS, we step into 2 Samuel 9 and examine the life of Mephibosheth, a man who had been carrying the weight of a moment that happened when he was five years old. Dropped in crisis. Crippled in both feet. Hidden in Lo-Debar. But the most damaging thing about Mephibosheth wasn’t what happened to him. It was what he started to believe because of it. When David finally calls him into the palace, Mephibosheth doesn’t respond like royalty. He responds like someone who has been living under a label for decades “What is your servant, that you should show regard for a dead dog such as I?” (2 Samuel 9:8) That statement exposes something deeper than pain. It reveals a belief system. Because trauma doesn’t just wound you. If left unaddressed, it will start naming you. In this message, we expose how belief systems are formed and how they quietly shape the way we think, speak, and live. • Your heart is not the Holy Spirit. • Your feelings do not preach sound doctrine. • Time doesn’t heal wounds. Inner work does. • Your mouth reveals the story your heart believes. • Mislabeling yourself can shape your reality. Mephibosheth’s environment nursed his wounds, but it never restored his identity. And many of us are still living out behaviors that came from letters we never challenged. But Scripture doesn’t just comfort you. It confronts what you’ve agreed with. Because if you keep calling yourself what God never called you, you will keep living beneath what God promised you. This message is an invitation to break agreement with the lie and come into alignment with the truth. Watch the message, and if it speaks to you, share it with someone who needs it. And if you’re near Memphis, join us in person.
