HIGHLIGHTS: Luis Robert Jr. Homers in Fourth Straight Game as Sox Defeat Cleveland (5.16.23)

Lance Lynn made his ninth start of the season, fourth at home and first against the Cleveland Guardians. The veteran pitcher had a solid outing at Guaranteed Rate Field, tossing 7.0 innings with 7 strikeouts. Luis Robert Jr. showed off his speed to start the scoring in the 5th inning! Yoán Moncada singled on a line drive to right fielder Will Brennan as Robert Jr. scored from first base. In the same inning, Gavin Sheets launched a 3-run home homer, driving in Yoán Moncada and Andrew Vaughn, extending his career RBI to 102. Jake Burger joined the scoring fun with a 2-run homer to right field, also bringing home Yasmani Grandal. Steven Kwan got Cleveland on the board with a sacrifice fly to left fielder Andrew Benintendi, scoring Myles Straw in the 6th inning. Andrew Vaughn adds another with an RBI double in the 6th. He went 2-for-4 with 1 R and 1 RBI. Cleveland added two runs in the 8th. Steven Kwan doubled on a line drive to score Myles Straw. Josh Bell singled to drive in Steven Kwan. Luis Robert Jr. hit a solo homer in the 8th, his 4th in as many games! He is the first White Sox since Matt Davidson to homer in four straight games. Davidson homered in four straight from 6/12-15/2017. The White Sox today returned LHP Garrett Crochet from his rehab assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list, and optioned RHP Nick Padilla to Charlotte. Crochet made six rehab appearances after starting 2023 on the IL to continue recovery from Tommy John surgery.
