Today in our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be having a look at and installing the Takonsha T1 Vehicle Wire Harness with four pole flat trailer connector. Part number 118384. Now this four pole flat wiring harness gives us the basic functions that we are required by law in order to safely tow a trailer. We'll have our tail lights and running lights off the brown wire. We'll have our left turn signal and left brake light off the yellow wire. The green wire gives us our right turn signal and our right brake light. This white wire here is our ground wire. What I like about this wiring harness compared to others on the market is the fact that not only do we have this protective loom here to help give it a nice finished look, but also there's no splicing required. It plugs right into your factory wiring on the vehicle, no modifications are needed at all to the vehicle. Now our wiring harness here has this built in protective dust cap, which will help prevent dirt and debris and moisture from getting inside making it difficult to plug our trailer into or potentially causing a short or corrosion and a poor connection. Now one thing you need to keep in mind after you install this wiring harness, it won't work until you take your vehicle to the local Jeep dealership nearest you and have them re-flash your computer inside the vehicle to enable the factory tow package wiring. You have all the physical connections you need but you need to have the software put onto the computer in order for it to work properly. Shouldn't take them too terribly long to do it and once you have that done, you're ready to go. Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get installed. All right, to begin our installation we need to locate our vehicle's factory tow package wiring connector. It's located behind your fascia in this general area right here. Okay, if we follow our wiring harness down right here, we find the end of our factory tow package connector. It's clipped into our bumper. We can remove it with a flathead screwdriver or a trim handle tool. We have a tab right here. We push in on this tab, we can grab this plug, which protects our connector. Now I like to use some dielectric grease. We have this available on our website if you need some. This will help prevent any moisture from causing a short circuit or contamination. Now we'll take the male end of our connector and we'll plug it on in. Make sure it clicks into place and locks securely. Now our plug that we removed, what I like to do is put it in this other connector here to protect it in case we need it for another purpose later on. Push that in and make sure it's secure just like so. Okay, now we'll clip our wiring harness back in its original location. Now we'll take our wiring harness in, drop it down, use the dust cover to secure it to our hitch. We'll take up the excess slack here and zip tie it up. That completes our look at and installation of the Takonsha T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with four pole flat trailer connector, part number 118384, on our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
