Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes - Wake Up Everybody (5.1 surround sound mix)

Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes - Wake Up Everybody (5.1 surround sound mix)

This 5.1 mix was sourced from 23 lossless multi-tracks. It wasn't an easy one to mix. At first I tried to build upon how the quad was mixed, even going so far as to try to replicate the cool reverb-delay effect they used on the tambourine; but the more I got into it, the more I realized that I would just create a different type of mix. I had to add some of the mid-song fades and such to try & match the basic song structure. Regarding Teddy Pendergrass' vocals, there's an additional ad-lib vocal which I didn't have but it doesn't make a huge difference IMO. This mix sounds different than what you've heard before; the track length, the placement, more amplitude to certain things, left the count-in at the beginning, didn't fade-out, etc. I have also mixed this into Dolby Atmos. This and all the music on this channel are my own surround sound creations which I've mixed or remixed using either mastered or unmastered studio stems, or multi-tracks. I am not a professional audio engineer and since these are my unofficial mixes, they may sound very different from the official releases; whether this was my intention or not, my primary goal is to create enjoyable surround mixes. Jared (Methuselah's Grandpa) ==================== YouTube 5.1 streaming, audio quality and known volume issues You can NOT stream 5.1 YouTube videos on a computer, mobile phone or tablet using a web browser. Even though Google Chrome, Firefox or other browsers may support 5.1, YouTube has chosen to restrict surround sound audio to the app only. Use the YouTube app on a TV, AppleTV, ROKU, Firestick, PlayStation, X-Box, Nvidia Shield, etc.. to stream surround sound. YouTube does not stream surround sound as high-quality audio. I upload my mixes here in the best quality that I can; as lossless 5.1 flac, 7.1 DTS Master Audio or Dolby TrueHD Atmos. Most of my mixes have lossless sources and so the only lossy conversion is the one that happens when YouTube streams it as 5.1 AAC or 5.1 EAC3 (Dolby Digital+) at 384 kb/s. To my ears, 384 kb/s is just not enough, I can hear lossy artifacts and the loss of fidelity. Low Volume When Streaming 5.1 Audio YouTube handles the loudness of 5.1 audio drastically different than it does compared to stereo. I have tried everything I could to my own mixes to adhere to the specs but it nothing ever worked. They reduce all 5.1 audio so much that you need to turn up the volume louder than you normally would for stereo content but BE CAREFUL with the ads, they can switch your AVR to stereo temporarily and it can be MUCH louder than the 5.1 music. The title track from their 1975 album, the song spent two weeks at number one on the Hot Soul Singles chart in early 1976. It also enjoyed success on the pop charts, peaking at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, number 34 Easy Listening, number 33 in Canada, and number 23 in the UK Singles Chart. They performed the song on Soul Train on November 22, 1975.
