More than a single aircraft, the destroyer family was developed to take on a myriad of roles. Long-range fighter, fast bomber, bomber-destroyer, night fighter... The Me-110, Me-210, and finally the Me-410 were jacks of all trade, but masters of none, as many ended their careers (and that of their pilots) as smoldering wrecks all throughout Europe, since they were never able to cope with the speed and maneuverability of single engine fighters such as the Spitfire,Thunderbolt, Mustang or Yak.
