Full tirade: Trump says Starmer 'no Churchill' in scathing Oval Office dressing down

Donald Trump said Sir Keir Starmer was no “Winston Churchill”, adding that he was “not happy” with the Prime Minister’s lack of support for the Iran war. The US president expressed his displeasure after threatening to cut off all trade to Spain for refusing to allow the US military to use its bases. Speaking from the Oval Office during a meeting with the Friedrich Merz, the German Chancellor, Mr Trump said: “Some nations have been helpful, some haven’t. Germany has been great, others have been very good … Some, like Spain have been terrible. I told Scott to cut off all dealings with Spain.” He said he was “not happy with the UK either”, adding that Sir Keir’s decision to block use of the joint military base on the Chagos Islands had delayed US warplanes.
