When UE powers ON, following procedure takes places at radio end:- · Initial access consists of cell search and acquisition to first allow a UE to synchronize with the target cell. Primary sync signal (PSS) and Secondary sync signal (SSS) helps to establish DL sync. · Master Information Block (MIB) from NR helps UE to acquire the information needed to access the network. · System information block (SIB) in DL includes configurations for the UE such as cell selection & re-selection, random access parameters, PLMN identity and access class barring list. Once all criterions are met, cell is selected by UE. · Initial access from UE to NR starts from Random Access procedure. NR decodes the preamble and UL sync is performed. · Radio resource control (RRC) is setup and then an initial NAS message establish a signaling connection between UE and AMF. Further interactions among network functions in the 5GC are captured below in the attachment.
