It’s crisp on the outside, tender inside, naturally gluten-free, and baked rather than fried. Simple ingredients, beautiful flavours, and perfect for sharing. Whether you’re cooking for guests or a relaxed family meal, this recipe comes together easily and always feels special. 👉 The full written recipe, tips, and variations are linked below on my website. ⭐ If you love this recipe, you might also enjoy: ▶️ • Gluten-Free Recipes 🍽️ ITALIAN BAKED CALAMARI WITH PARMESAN CRUMB (GLUTEN-FREE) Prep Time: 15 minutes Bake Time: 20 minutes Ingredients 1 kg whole fresh calamari, cleaned and cut into large chunks 250 g cherry tomatoes, halved 220 g Kalamata olives, pitted ½ cup chopped fresh parsley, plus extra to garnish ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus extra for baking 3 large garlic cloves, minced 1 tsp onion powder 1½ tsp sea salt 1 tsp black pepper 2 tsp Italian herbs Zest of 1 lemon ½ cup gluten-free breadcrumbs 3–4 tbsp finely grated Parmesan cheese To serve: Lemon wedges and fresh parsley Method Preheat the oven Preheat oven to 220°C and line a large baking tray with baking paper. Prepare the calamari Clean the calamari by removing the innards, beak, and cartilage. Rinse well, slice open, and lightly score the inside in a shallow criss-cross pattern. Cut into large chunks. Season the calamari Place calamari in a large bowl with garlic, onion powder, salt, pepper, Italian herbs, parsley, lemon zest, and olive oil. Toss gently. Sprinkle over the Parmesan and breadcrumbs and toss again until evenly coated. Assemble Transfer to the prepared tray. Scatter over cherry tomatoes and olives and lightly spray with olive oil. Bake Bake for 20–25 minutes until just cooked and golden. Serve immediately with lemon and parsley. 🔥 AIR FRYER METHOD This recipe can also be made in the air fryer. Preheat to 200°C. Arrange calamari in a single layer, spray lightly with olive oil, and air fry for 8–10 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crisp.
