Michelin vs Pirelli vs Bridgestone vs Vitour - Who Makes the Fastest Tire?

I tested four of the fastest street-legal track tires you can buy — the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R, the Bridgestone Potenza Race, and the Vitour Tempesta P1 Plus - all in 235/35 R19 on a VW Golf GTI Clubsport at Pirelli's Vizzola wet facility and Varano for the dry work. Dry handling, dry braking, wet handling, wet braking, aquaplaning, and rolling resistance. Full data, no shortcuts. These are the tires taking Nürburgring lap records and winning autocross events, and I wanted to find out which one is actually the fastest when you put them all on the same car on the same day. One tire was over two seconds faster than everything else in the dry. Another was 15% better than the rest in wet braking - a gap that's almost hard to believe. And a budget brand from outside the premium big three beat some very established names on lap time. The data threw up some genuine surprises, and a couple of results I didn't expect at all. I also tested these tires in the wet, because track days get rained on and some of you are running these as your daily on a fast car. The wet results tell a completely different story to the dry - the tire that won overall was one of the weaker performers in the rain, and the tire that finished last overall was untouchable in wet conditions.
