AU where, after Sakumo attempted to off himself, kakashi completely disappeared. Sakumo heavily grieved the loss of his son after he awoke in the hospital and was discharged with the news his son was missing. Minato, being Kakashis sensei, at least wanted to do Kakashi the favor of looking after Sakumo. The 3rd took Kakashi in as an ANBU after finding him in ROOT working directly under Danzo. Danzo was arrested and two years after Kakashi joined the ANBU Minato took over as Hokage. Minato doesn’t know any of the old ANBUs real names or identities, as Hiruzen asked. He only knew their cover names, but didn’t see it a big deal he didn’t know their identities. As for where Kakashi went, during the time that Sakumo was in the hospital, Kakashi was almost killed by Villagers. He took a really bad hit to the head that caused him Amnesia. He passed out and was left alone by the villagers, who thought they killed him. Orochimaru found him and took care of him outside of the village, where he deemed it was safer. Kakashi has Traumatic Amnesia, which is memory loss caused by a blow to the head. This resulted in Transient Global Amnesia, which is temporary loss of all memory. The time it takes to regain these memories varies from person to person. For Kakashi, he remembers most of his life prior to living with orochimaru outside of the village, but he can’t remember important people like Sakumo and Gai. Reminder that he hasn’t met Minato, Rin, and Obito on the personal level he did in canon. He still did meet Minato, but doesn't remember him and had only met him a few times. He was 5-6 when he was taken in by orochimaru. He returned to the leaf village when he was 12, and worked in ROOT under danzo for awhile due to Orochimarus connections to him. He was then bought into ANBU at 14 after Danzo was arrested.
