Nayak is the Bollywood remake of Tamil blockbuster Mudhalvan which was released in 2001. Nayak is Shankar's only directorial venture in Bollywood, which had Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee in lead roles Director Shankar is currently shooting for 2.0, the sequel to the blockbuster sci-fi film Enthiran. Nayak, unlike its original Tamil version, fell flat at the box-office. It is said that Nayak has been telecast most number of times by Hindi television channels.
