Over 300 educators, organizers, parents, and students joined the Zinn Education Project’s Teach the Black Freedom Struggle class on March 8, 2021 (International Women’s Day) to learn about the long history of Black women in North America that has long been buried or dismissed, and to talk about why that history is important for young people to learn. This interactive online class featured a conversation between the authors of A Black Women’s History of the United States, Drs. Daina Ramey Berry and Kali Nicole Gross, and Cierra Kaler-Jones, Education Anew Fellow and Teaching for Change staff member. It is part of a series of online classes produced by the Zinn Education Project about the Black Freedom Struggle.
