Gaslighting is essentially an attempt to change a person's reality or their perception of what happened. By invading personal space, the gaslighter causes the victim to minimize themselves if they allow it. It's a dominating tactic. Here are a few examples. Invading Personal Space – These behaviors reinforce a notion you don’t matter or you don’t deserve basic respect. o Hugging without permission (Extend your hand for a handshake.) o Leaning over you (Stand up) o Standing too close (Put one toe out, keep it there and step to the side.) o Adjusting your hair, clothes, etc… without your permission (Thank them and move away) o Looking through your desk or personal items without permission.
