September 2023 Orlando Vlog | Travel Day
Welcome to a brand new Orlando Travel Vlog series! It is Travel Day! We had planned on doing a Pre-Travel day too, however things were a little too hectic. Steve went to visit family down in Eastbourne (for his nephew's 1st birthday) and his easyJet flight back to Glasgow was cancelled! After a frantic few hours trying to find a way home, he ended up getting a @BritishAirways flight from London City to Glasgow (thanks Mum for booking it!) but then had a crazy trip across London to get to London City! He ended up getting home around 10pm (when he should have been home around 4pm) and hadn't packed yet, so it was a bit of a crazy night - especially as our flight was at 7am the next morning! We then waited for an Uber to take us to @glasgowairport7364 for our flight to London Gatwick and it was late, so we were in a rush! Then for some reason Steve's phone camera wouldn't work so we didn't film much on the way - a very stressful morning! Once at Glasgow Airport we checked in and dropped the bags off, and then headed through Security to the British Airways lounge for drinks (Chris had to have a Bloody Mary!) and breakfast, before heading down to the Gate for our 1st flight of the day. A slight delay but was a fairly quick flight. Once in Gatwick we headed outside to the smoking area for Chris to vape, before heading through Security to the British Airways First Lounge (as we are BA Executive Club Gold members) for our 4 hour wait. We had drinks and ordered food, and watched the planes. We headed down to the Gate to find we were delayed! Once onboard we found our seats in World Traveller Plus (BA's Premium Economy) and found we were delayed even further, so we give you a tour of the seats and the amenity kit, and our food when it arrived. We landed into Orlando International Airport (MCO) Terminal C around 2.5 hours late at around 9:30pm and had to wait ages for our bags to come through - the Glasgow check-in desks didn't have any Priority luggage tags left, so our bags were literally the last ones out! Then there was a pretty large queue for Immigration, although it moved quickly. We got to the Avis Preferred Pickup in the Garage at Terminal C to find that they hadn't put Chris on the board - we had a feeling this would happen as Avis hadn't taken the hold yet for the car. Luckily, we spoke to the agent at the small desk there and they now have a tablet with them so they checked the details and sorted the paperwork for us - last time we had to go back to the terminal! We went to the car and it wasn't a Ford Edge but a GMC Terrain (which although is the same size as the Edge it doesn't have a lot of boot space! We'll be changing that tomorrow! We headed to Walgreens on the way back to the hotel, the @WyndhamIDriveResort, and we finally made it to check-in at midnight! A VERY long travel day! We ended up with a Tower room (we had booked a standard non-tower room, but the guy at check-in said the Tower rooms were nicer and it was an upgrade at no extra cost.
