The 1st Annual MTV Awards with Bette Midler and Dan Aykroyd

An actress and performer we’ve featured a number of times before now, Bette Midler. Bette’s 80s movies include Big Business, Ruthless People and Beaches but here she is before all of those films had been released in 1984. Bette, along with Dan Aykroyd, presented the first ever MTV Video Music Awards - remember the spinning hair at the end of the clip?! Performers included Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Tina Turner, ZZ Top, Ray Parker, Jr. with Ghostbusters and Madonna with Like a Virgin. The winner of Video of the Year was The Cars with You Might Think.
