While streets are designed for the economy and are meant to be complex environments with low speeds and commercial activities. Roads are designed for the purpose of moving people from one place to another at high speeds. stroads as seen here is a problematic combination of a road and a street. There is wide lanes for high speeds, but also bustling commercial activity on either sides. It is unsafe and unpleasant for pedestrians with non existent sidewalks and fun fact this stroad has zero bus stops, pedestrians are forced to walk in between the street parking and the moving traffic. Pedestrians have to be actively cautious and look out for moving traffic as they may turn into a side street or exit a business. So what can be done to improve this stroad? Well, it can be resolved by converting it into a street, which can be done by firstly reducing car traffic. The best solution will be to make this a car free zone. However failing at this, an implementation of congestion fees may be a viable alternative. But of course we cannot forget improving the public transportation network in the conversion of the strode into a street. Bicycle lanes should be established to form a greater network of bicycle lanes and network of bicycle lanes in particular offer a dedicated space for cyclists to ride. Reducing potential conflicts with other vehicles and will also thus encourage more people to ride bikes and as bicycle will be a more viable and convenient mode of transportation. riding bicycles have numerous health benefits and will also improve air quality. This is deeply disappointing, and it's a clear sign that we still have a long way to go in our efforts to reduce car dependency we cannot continue down this path.
