It also explains key measurement parameters such as accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and resolution. Various types of errors, sources of errors in measurement, and the concept of loading effect are discussed to understand measurement reliability and limitations. UNIT–2: AC, DC and Bridges This unit focuses on electrical bridge circuits used for accurate measurement of resistance, inductance, and capacitance. It includes a comparative study of DC bridges such as Wheatstone Bridge and Kelvin Double Bridge. The unit also covers AC bridges including Maxwell’s Bridge, Hay’s Bridge, Anderson Bridge, and De-Sauty’s Bridge, emphasizing their working principles, applications, and comparison. UNIT–3: Measuring Instruments In this unit, different types of electrical measuring instruments are studied. It includes the construction, working principles, and applications of Permanent Magnet Moving Coil (PMMC) instruments, Moving Iron (MI) instruments, and Electrodynamometer type instruments. The unit also covers single-phase energy meters, applications of DC and AC potentiometers, and an introduction to various electronic measuring instruments. UNIT–4: Oscilloscopes This unit explains the working of oscilloscopes in detail. Topics include cathode ray tube (CRT) construction and operation, probe structures (1:1 and 10:1), screens and graticules, vertical and horizontal deflection systems, and delay lines. It also covers measurements of frequency, time delay, phase angle, and modulation index using the trapezoidal method. Additionally, multiple trace CRO and digital storage oscilloscope (DSO) are introduced. UNIT–5: Transducers This unit deals with transducers used for converting physical quantities into electrical signals. It includes classification, selection criteria, and characteristics of transducers. The construction, working principles, and applications of RTD, thermocouple, thermistor, LVDT, strain gauge load cell, and piezoelectric transducers are explained in detail.
