Sowerby: "Love Came Down at Christmas"

Sowerby: "Love Came Down at Christmas"

Christina Rossetti wrote two texts that are very much associated with Christmas, this one and "In the bleak mid-winter" which is famous is its settings by Gustav Holst and Harold Darke. The more famous setting of "Love Came Down at Christmas" is by Sir John Rutter, but I rather like this one by the American composer Leo Sowerby, who gives it a few harmonic twists and turns that makes it frankly more interesting. I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I do.
