Atascadero High School Possible Shot Heard May 21 2015 Lockdown

May 21 2015 Possible shot heard in the area of Atascadero High School - a member of the faculty reported hearing what they believed to be a single gunshot just West of the school area. Out of an abundance of caution Atascadero Police Department initiated a lockdown/shelter in place on the High School and nearby North County Christian School at 9:20AM. Multiple agencies responded to the scene including the local Police and Fire Dept, San Luis Ambulance, CHP – San Luis Obispo on the ground and in air with H70, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office including detectives, supervisors and probation, Cuesta College Police Department, Atascadero State Hospital Police and others, who formed multiple search teams. A thorough canvassing of the interior and exterior of the campus along with vehicles in the parking lot revealed nothing suspicious and at 11:16AM the all clear was given. Law enforcement left the campus, debriefed and AHS students were then shortly released from their shelter in place command and released to lunch. Students proceeded with the rest of their schoolday as normal. No confirmed source of the noise according to Atascadero Police Dept.
