Meteorologist Ashley Renee has your 8:45am forecast. Good morning everyone and happy Thursday! Skies were partly to mostly cloudy for our Wednesday. We had a dry morning, but a few thunderstorms rolled through in the afternoon and evening. After the storms were gone, we were able to see a beautiful sunset peeking out from behind the clouds. Baton Rouge had a morning low of 70 degrees and an afternoon high of 92 degrees. Since we had a good bit of rain move through yesterday, we have some patchy fog in our area this morning. The fog formed due to mostly clear skies overnight, calm winds and enough moisture being present on the ground, soils and grass which evaporated during the night. A little patchy fog is present on the roads and over the grassy areas. Skies are mostly clear this morning and will become partly cloudy this afternoon. Highs will be in the low 90s. An isolated shower or two will be possible this afternoon and evening. Skies will be partly cloudy this evening and then become mostly clear later tonight. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s. Friday will be another hot and mostly dry day. Temperatures will be near 70 in the morning and afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 90s. There’s a low chance of rain for Friday through the weekend. Skies will be partly cloudy, highs will be in the 90s and there’s a slight chance of showers for those days. Monday is the first day of Fall (yay!), but highs will still be in the low to mid 90s that day and through the first half of next week. Rain chances are also still low at the beginning of next week too. Take advantage of the pleasant weather that’s continuing! Tracking the tropics: Tropical Depression Seven became Tropical Storm Gabrielle yesterday morning. As of 4 AM CDT, it has wind speeds of 50 mph and is moving WNW at 15 mph. Good news is, it looks like Gabrielle will continue moving west through the Atlantic and then turn north. There’s another tropical wave near the Cabo Verde Islands that has a 0% chance of tropical development over the next two and seven days. Another tropical wave behind it that is still near the west coast of Africa has a 0% chance of tropical development over the next two days and a 20% chance of development over the next seven days as it moves west. There are no immediate concerns for the Gulf Coast. Remember to stay prepared throughout the rest of the season. Thanks for watching. Have a triumphant Thursday!
