Joey "Jaws'' Chestnut beat his own record in regaining the Mustard Yellow International Belt on Monday, to top Matt "The Megatoad'' Stonie at the annual July Fourth eating contest at Nathan's Famous in Coney Island. Miki Sudo outpaced fellow American Sonya "Black Widow" Thomas to capture her third straight women's hot dog eating crown. It's that time of year again. Yep, it's the annual July Fourth hot dog eating contest at Nathan's Famous in Coney Island, but this year it's the 100th anniversary. Joey "Jaws" Chestnut upset Matt Stonie to regain the Men's championship title. Chestnut downed 70 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, out chewing Stonie by 17 dogs. Chestnut's 70 hot dogs were the most ever eaten at a competition. He beat his own record by one which he set in 2013. Before regaining his title, the 32-year-old had won eight straight competitions in a row before losing the Mustard Yellow International Belt to Stonie last year in an upset. In the women's competition two-time defending champion Miki Sudo was back in action, but so too was former winner Sonya "Black Widow" Thomas. Sudo, from Las Vegas, proved too good again for the 48-year-old Thomas though. Sudo clinched a hat-trick of titles by demolishing 38 dogs in ten minutes. Thomas was second with 34. Source:pSNTV/p
