EXCLUSIVE: 2 Teens Take Off on Destructive Joy Ride

2 suspects are behind bars after a series of crimes comes to an end near a Coffee County elementary school. Detectives are questioning 2 young men investigators believe could be involved in 2 burglaries and at least 5 car thefts. The men were arrested after a burglary, a short chase and a car accident all happened within 2 miles of North Coffee Elementary School, which investigators say was full of children at the time of the arrest. 18 year old Jeremy Tate and 16 year old Shane Bell could face several charges tonight. Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves says an officer spotted the suspects burglarizing a home about a mile and a half away from North Coffee Elementary School. The getaway truck crashed after a short chase and investigators say the suspects ran away. The suspects were arrested, but investigators say the burglary was just the last stop in a series of crimes including at least 5 stolen cars and 2 breakins that happened in Coffee County in the last 2 days."I'm just glad that it's over and no one was injured because you know the way this all started with 5 thefts and then home burglaries," says Sheriff Graves. "It was scary."A Sheriff's Department representative says these suspects likely acted as part of a group and are investigating other stolen cars and breakins they say could be related to the ones in Coffee County. So far, the 18 year old has been booked on one charge of Evading Arrest. Investigators tell us other charges are likely to follow tonight. _______________ Stay up to date with our social media: WZTV on Facebook:   / foxnashville   WZTV on Twitter:   / foxnashville   Subscribe to WZTV on YouTube:    / @fox17nashville   Daily News Playlist:    • Playlist   For more information, visit https://fox17.com/ Have a news tip?
