Wide of protesters, flags STORYLINE: Several hundred Serbs protested in cities across Europe on Sunday, in opposition to Kosovo's independence from Serbia. Demonstrations filmed by AP Television in Brussels, the Hague and Vienna, showed protestors holding up placards and shouting slogans in defiance of the country which voted for its own statehood one week ago. Similar anti-Kosovo independence rallies were organised in Geneva, and other European capitals. In Brussels, several hundred Serbs gathered outside EU offices to chant "Kosovo is Serbia" while waving placards with the words "Ask any lawyer" and "Don't legalise it." "It's unjust that they took our land but they couldn't do it by themselves. They bombed us for 78 days to take our territory. It is a shame for Europe, it is shame for the whole world," one protester said Serbs view Kosovo as the heart of their homeland and their Serbian Orthodox faith, and have refused to let it go despite formal recognition of its statehood - following a vote earlier this month - from key European nations, the US and other countries worldwide. In The Hague, one woman said Kosovo had been stolen from her country.
