SUFFOLK POLICE SEEK SUSPECTS IN ATTEMPTED ATM THEFT SUFFOLK, VA (May 14, 2012) Suffolk Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying two suspects involved in an attempted theft of an ATM machine at the Kangaroo Gas Station located at 819 West Washington Street. At 2:42 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012, two masked and hooded suspects arrived in the parking lot of the business in a silver or white Dodge extended cab short bed pickup truck, believed to be 1994-2001 body style. One offender smashed the glass door of the business with an aluminum baseball bat and attempted to remove the ATM machine. The offenders were unsuccessful but caused over $1,000 worth of damage to the store and the ATM machine. The offenders fled the scene in their vehicle traveling east on West Washington Street. Both of the suspects wore gloves and dark clothes and are thought to be adults. One of the offenders is possibly a white male. Detective Jeffrey Lurie is the lead investigator. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up. When calling Crime Line, callers do not have to give their names or appear in court. If information leads to an arrest, the caller could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
