Dugan Lake Cariboo, BC 2.8 Lbs and 21 inches

Got this guy on a black and red balanced leech pattern in 30 feet of water and 20 feet of leader under a strike indicator. Dugan Lake is a stocked lake in the Cariboo getting about 30,000 fish each spring. The temperatures are pretty hot right now with the mid day at 30 degrees celcius. The only time of day the fish will bite is between 5:30am and 7:30am with sunrise listed at 6:30am. I had to put the camera down to net the fish and wouldn't you know it, the second the fish was in the net the hook came flying out, had I fought the fish another SECOND I would have lost it for sure. The fly is my Muddy Bloody Leech pattern. size 10 long curve hook designed as a balanced fly laying flat in the water under an indicator instead of hanging vertically. If you visit my fishoverload.com website and search for Ryan's Muddy Bloody Leech pattern you'll find a step by step guide. The basics are black tail with brown llama dubbing and thin red ribbing with copper bead.
