Carolyn Ballard Walker Eastern Star Last Rites

Mrs. Carolyn Ballard Walker was the third child of the late Rev. Alonzo Ballard & the late Fannie Martin Ballard. She was born on October 3, 1947 and departed this life on September 21, 2024. Carolyn was married to Charles Mitchell Walker I. On July 27, 2024, they celebrated 50 years of marriage. She leaves two children: Felecia J. Ballard and Charles Mitchell Walker II. Also left are her sisters, Sandra F. (Benjamin) Price, Jr. and Patricia M. Ballard; Grandson, Julian Douglas Walker and Sister In-Law, Eve (Louis) Ballew. Others who remain are nephews Benjamin Lowell (Silvia) Price III, Mark Joseph (Alicia) Price; Steven Ballew, Stewart Ballew, James Ballew, and niece, Mariele Ballew. Remaining also are great nephews, Javi Price, Myles Ballew, Donte Ballew, Theo Ballew and great niece Abbie Price. Aunts who remain are Mrs. Ethel Merriweather and Mrs. Josephine (Lucian) Dillingham. Carolyn has a vast host of cousins, friends and her beloved Church Family who will miss her dearly. Carolyn Walker was a faithful member of the Farristown Missionary Baptist Church in Berea, KY. She served in many ministries including Sunday School, Music, Missionary, Women’s Ministry & Culinary. Through this outlet, she became an active worker in the New Liberty Baptist Sunday School Convention and the Mt. Pleasant District Women’s Missionary Auxiliary, the Eastern Region Missionary Institute, Baptist Women’s Missionary Convention and Baptist Women’s Educational Convention. While living in Austin, Texas she joined as a Watch Care Member with the David Chapel Baptist Church and when in Fuquay- Varina, North Carolina she was a Watch Care Member at the First Baptist Church of Fuquay-Varina . She was educated at the Middletown Consolidated Elementary School in Berea, KY, Berea High School and Eastern KY University. Carolyn worked at the Parker Seal Plant in Berea and also was an Avon salesperson. Later in life she worked in Retail. She was a manager at the Weiner Department Store in Austin, Texas. In Fuquay- Varina, North Carolina she was a manager for Fashion Fair and Este Lauder cosmetics at Dillard’s. In Lexington, KY she was a manager at Stein Mart. Carolyn was involved with the Central Community Center Homemakers; the Faith Task Force of Madison County, INC; the Brig. Gen. Noel F. Parrish Chapter of Tuskegee Airman, INC., and the New Liberty Family Shelter in Richmond, KY She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a past member of: The Jurisdiction of Texas, PHA and The Jurisdiction of North Carolina, PHA. Upon her death, she was a member Bluegrass Assembly No. 46, Order of the Golden Circle, Phyllis Wheatley #39, OES and the Cecilia Dunlap Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star of Kentucky, INC, PHA. Mrs. Carolyn Walker will be remembered as a friend to many and a lover of God’s people! God has spoken! Let the Church say AMEN! The Family
