In Chapter 2: Fateful Encounters, Cloud escapes the exploding Mako Reactor 1 and races through the streets of Midgar as chaos erupts around him. This chapter introduces us to the everyday people affected by Shinra’s power — and gives Cloud a moment of reflection he never expected. During his escape, Cloud experiences mysterious visions and crosses paths with Aerith for the very first time, marking a key moment in the story. Meanwhile, Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge regroup as Avalanche deals with the consequences of the bombing mission. With Shinra forces tightening their search, Cloud must navigate the back alleys and rooftops of the Sector 8 ruins to reunite with Avalanche and get out safely.
