So heading to another match that really should've had a crowd is the one match that had a lot of potential, but went downhill real fast. It's the Last Man Standing match between Edge and Randy Orton. Now going into the story, it had quite a build. A much bigger build then say the other matches from the card. The fact of Orton beating Edge and Hardy, and RKOing Edge's wife, it has the edge. Even in the early days of the Empty Arena shows that their promos were articulate and on point. It was going to be the match that a lot of people would be talking about. But when WrestleMania came around and the match happened, it was a complete dumpster fire. What was suppose to be a physical and violent Last Man Standing match turned into a boring slog that went too long and has them go around the Performance Center with commentary being so quiet. Not to mention that aforementioned hanging from the exercise equipment that was similar to the Chris Benoit murder/suicide when the episode of Dark Side of the Ring premiered a week prior. So yeah, it was a slow and none exciting match that had the potential, but blew it up, especially if they didn't have a crowd to get the shock value. Granted, they decided to give us a rematch with their "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever" in humongous quotation marks, but it felt like they were trying too hard in making us think it's a compelling match. And they had plans of having Orton vs. Edge for the WWE Championship at this year's WrestleMania, but instead, the company had Orton drop the belt to Drew and had Randy face the Fiend at the show, which... sigh... I still feel like the wrong person won on that one. Still, I feel like this Last Man Standing match should've been more exciting with a live audience. And that in turn we have 2K20 to give us the feel of a Last Man Standing match. Now unfortunately, there were no weapons involved, and the wrong person won on that one. But hey, on the bright side, at least we won't have to watch a 40 - 45 minute match, am I right. Still, at least this is somewhat better then what we got on the main show and I think it is a bit of an improvement. Be sure to check out the promo in the link below first before you watch it though, just so you can get a clear idea of how we got there. • Edge takes on Randy Orton at WrestleMania I just hope you liked this match.
