My 9-year old son Ted was diagnosed with leukaemia earlier this year. After a rocky few months, he is beginning to get back into his violin playing. He has been playing for just over 2 years now and I think he is doing fabulously, both in terms of his progress as a musician and also in coping in the face of this mess. The gutting thing is that in a couple of weeks, his treatment intensity is going to increase again and he may not be able to play again for a while. Earlier this year he missed playing in his first proper concert and at the time it was heart breaking to witness, as he had worked so hard for it. Fingers crossed he'll be able to play at the concert in July!
