JOIN BROADCAST PLAZA TODAY, DISCORD'S MEDIA DISCUSSION COMMUNITY — http://bit.ly/S31MA Open for the morning newscast on Seattle-Tacoma, Washington's Fox O&O recorded on Friday, September 24, 2021 on the 4:30am block. This is the first ever newscast with their new name, Fox 13. That's right: the Q13 moniker is gone after 41 years. In its place is the new "Fox 13" brand. The news was first broken by the industry site TVNewsTalk.net on September 8 when a member there spotted the new logos on the station's FCC public file (likewise, KZJO is ditching the "JoeTV" moniker in favor of "Fox 13 Plus"). The change is likely rooted in the fact that longtime FTS GM Sheila Oliver assumed that position at KCPQ-KZJO back in May and likely wants to get the station in line with the rest of the group. It's a no-brainer, really. The heritage branding will be missed in a way, but I like the new Fox 13 Seattle. I'll be recording more throughout the day, and also recorded the last shows with the "Q13 News" brand, so keep your eyes peeled. Nothing else, presentation-wise, really changes. Drew Patterson is still the station voiceover, Beyond from Stephen Arnold is still the music, and the FTS group graphics they debuted about a year ago remain as well. Anchored by Travis Mayfield with weather from M.J. McDermott. She's actually leaving the station next week as is alluded to here. Mayfield also mentions the rebranding at the top of the show. ©2021 Fox Television Stations and KCPQ-TV, no copyright infringement intended. For educational and historical purposes only.
