3 Chinese tourists killed in bus crash

(25 Mar 2015) Three people were killed and 16 injured when a tour bus carrying Chinese tourists plunged off a road on the Thai island of Phuket on Wednesday. The bus was travelling downhill, lost control and fell into an embankment in Chalong district, according to local police. Three Chinese tourists - two women and a man - were killed, and fifteen Chinese tourists and a Thai guide suffered minor injuries, officials stated. The bus driver, Kajonwit Srisongkram, told AP that the brakes failed, causing the vehicle to plunge off the winding road. The southern island of Phuket is a popular destination among Thai and foreign tourists. While best known for its beautiful beaches, the island is notorious for its hilly roads.
