I also try to do exact translations as much as I can, but still have it be poetic, especially for a song like this. So sometimes I change things like: "our blue" from the first time the chorus is sung, to just "blue" the second time. I think "our blue" sounds more poetic and emotional, but technically the Japanese doesn't actually say "our." Also I think it's interesting that "Ao no Sumika" is translated into English as "Where our Blue Is." When I first saw it, I thought sumika was the word for "residence" or "location" as in, where you live, so I thought it fit. Which I think is the word they actually mean. But also in the actual song they use the version of Sumika that means "gap" or "opening," so I thought it'd be interesting if it also could mean Our Blue's Gap or separation or distance type of thing, though that's not the official word they're using in the title. Also I would say the significance of "blue" is that it represents youth in Japanese. One, Japanese originally did not have a word for "green," so how some people think green is young and inexperienced, that is their version of the color, in a way. Also their word for young adult or youth is seinen, written with the characters "blue" and "year," like when you're young it's like your "blue years" or inexperienced and young years.
