It's finally time to go to the New Londo Ruins. The first thing anyone should do is buy some Transient Curses from the Moss Merchant. There are Ghost enemies in New Londo that you can only damage while under the effects of a curse. I'm not sure if you are actually cursed if that will also allow you to hit the Ghosts, too. I never tried it and I never intend to try. The whole idea of this mechanic is stupid. They don't even give you some kind of timer to let you know how much time is left on the Transient Curse you took. This makes it easy to be in a situation where it runs out on you in the middle of a battle with Ghosts. This leads to the player wasting time for the last Transient Curse they used to run out so that they can use a new one to reset the timer. Ridiculous incompetency on FromSoftware's part. Another thing that sucks is the New Londo Ruins themselves. When you first arrive, most of the lower areas are flooded with water. I forget if I explained this before, but in Dark Souls if you walk off a ledge into water you just drop and die. The water may as well not be there and it's effectively a cliff. This would be fine if you could see the edges of the ground you could walk on easily, but guess what? You can't. It's so dark down here, and the reflection off the surface of water keeps you from seeing what's beneath from a distance. This makes it hard to see the edges of the ground until it's too late. The best you can do is angle the camera straight at the ground so that you can most clearly see what's beneath you. More crappy game design by FromSoftware. Screw them. The Crestfallen Warrior is down here. He hated the smell of Frampt so much that he escaped to the New Londo Ruins and went Hollow. I don't feel sad at all. He was a jerk. Up ahead past the first two Ghosts is a Firekeeper Soul, but watch out! The Ghosts set a trap for you and will come at you from both sides on this narrow path. Luckily, I found out you can bait them into appearing without even walking out there. I immediately take that Firekeeper Soul back to Anastacia at Firelink Shrine in order to reinforce my Estus Flasks. Deeper into the ruins, after killing most of the Ghosts both outside and inside the old building, I climb a ladder in the fireplace to find Ingward. You need to speak with him in order to get the Key to the Seal. This key is necessary in order to get through the area. Ingward is also a useful character because he sells a Resist Curse spell and can cure you of Curse in exchange for Humanity. After leaving the house through the lower floor I die for another stupid reason. The dumb collision between two chunks of floor sending me off the broken bridge. I exit the game after draining the flood water from the New Londo Ruins. Those Blue Drakes outside are in for a surprise!
