I've finally returned with a completion of Phobos by KrmaL and more! I have a lot to say about everything that happened; so let's start from the beginning. I started going for this level because this would end up pushing Bloodbath out of my top 5 hardest extreme demon completions and I wanted to do an iconic level to celebrate that achievement. At first, the level was very tough, specifically the ufo part at 80%. That part alone almost made me drop the level when I started out due to how insanely hard it felt at the time. I eventually found a somewhat consistent way to do the part and decided that I would try to actually end up beating the level despite the fact that it felt impossible at first. Progress was fairly normal up until I got to around 30%. From there on, the level would end up being difficult to make progress on until the final day, but with me having difficulty gaining consistency, plus the fact that 2.208 had just come out at the time made me feel a bit demotivated to play the level. Around a week or two later, I just decided that waiting for death tracker and start pos switcher wasn't worth it and I tried to come back to the level. This time though, I ended up making a sudden change in the way that I play the game. You see, up until now, every completion of mine was done on mouse as I felt like it wasn't necessary for me to use a sayodevice or a wooting keyboard just yet. However, when I was attempting to buy a custom keyboard, I found out that the keyboard didn't actually ship to my location so I made the sudden decision to buy a Wooting 80HE keyboard. It felt awkward at first, but I saw the potential that this keyboard had and I made an effort to try and beat this level with my new input device. Eventually, I got a decent sized progress fluke, going from 41% all the way to 62%. That same night, I also got an additional 5 attempts to 45% from zero, which was really good! I thought that the level would be relatively straight forward from here; progress was finally getting big and I was slowly becoming more comfortable on the new keyboard. Instead, what happened is that I proceeded to die between 45% and 69% over 50 times before getting 81% earlier today where I ended up getting a huge burst of consistency after 13 total days of actually playing the level. For reference, I got 62% on Day 6. I started Day 13 (the final day) with a best of 69%. About the level itself now, it was just okay. I don't have much to say other than that there were a lot of parts that I got stuck at for a while. I ended up finding ways to get consistent with most parts, though. It wasn't particularly fun, but I also never really got too frustrated apart from a few very notable outliers. If you wish to beat this, just know that this level is way more brutal than it seems.
