Sasquatch Bob - Heavy Metal Thunder Ep. 1 - Where Eagles Dare (Iron Maiden) - Bass Cover This is the first episode in a new series of bass covers. I’ll be playing some of my favourite classic heavy metal songs from the 70s and 80s over the next few weeks. All recorded live, in one take, so they won’t be perfect, but it’s just a bit of fun and not to be taken too seriously. There was no doubt in my mind that this would be the first song I recorded as part of this series. It’s the opening track on one of the albums that shaped my musical taste as a teenager, one of my favourite songs of all time, and the song I use to soundcheck my bass at pretty much every gig I’ve played for 20 years! Iron Maiden’s legendary track Where Eagle’s Dare. First song on the 1983 classic album Piece of Mind, and the public’s first taste of the band’s new drummer, the incredible Nicko McBrain, who Maiden had just recruited from French rockers Trust. Composed by Steve Harris Played on my home made “Sasquatch Bob SPH-1” bass, and recorded using the DI out from a Tech21 SH1 into Pro Tools.
