Two people were killed Wednesday morning in a rush hour crash that shut down a busy stretch of the Thruway. The accident happened just before 8 a.m. on the eastbound side of the highway between exits 24 and 25. State police say it involved a tractor-trailer and five passenger vehicles. Pictures from the scene showed an Amazon tractor-trailer engulfed in flames. State police say multiple people were injured in addition to the two who died. The crash left traffic backed up for miles. The Thruway Authority says all eastbound lanes between exits 24 and 25 will be closed until further notice. They say drivers can expect the left lane on the westbound side to also be shut down as emergency crews work in the area.
