Principles of Uchinadi Okinawan Hand (RyuTe) are: Oboeru- To memorize. In several of the videos you've seen I demonstrate the kata slowly and break it up by the count. This helps students see each individual movement. Gei- Skill. Techniques and drills are combined in a natural flow and unlike Oboeru where patterns are memorized; the concept of Gei is to execute the physical aspects in a smooth and flowing manner. The feet, hands and body motions are combined so that techniques flow as if they were one continuous motion. Jitsu- Art Jitsu is an unconscious arrangement of knowledge. It is the melding of the mind and body, such that the techniques have a perceived mind of their own. Skill is executed in such a manner that it is a natural motion of the body. The principles, concepts, and execution all become one. Jim Logue I hope you enjoy the following video. It shows a different take on the basic Jo Kihon kata. As you read above there are 3 levels of karate. Unfortunately, I only know 2 ;) and that is probably enough to keep me busy for a lifetime. Enjoy! Chuck
