Everything you need to know about the new Covid rules as UK battles Omicron variant

Boris Johnson announced new rules will be introduced after cases of the new omicron Covid variant were found in the UK. Health secretary Sajid Javid outlined new Covid rules to fight the Omicron variant on Monday 29 November. Face masks must again be worn inside shops and on public transport. Wearing masks will also be required by pupils in certain areas of schools. Anyone who has come into contact with a person suspected of the Omicron variant must self-isolate at home for 10 days. This is regardless of whether or not they have been vaccinated. For travel, arrivals in the UK now need to take a PCR test within 48 hours of entering the UK. They must self-isolate at home until a negative test result comes back. Six million booster jabs will be made available in England over the next three weeks. Every UK adult will be offered a Covid-19 booster in a bid to tackle the spread of the Omicron variant. Booster doses will be given no sooner than three months after people have had their second dose of the vaccine. The government is planning on reviewing measures after three weeks when more is known about the Omicron variant.
