https://healthykidneyinc.com/ Today’s video is our second video on how to naturally lower potassium. In this video, Robert explains how leaching or boiling your vegetables can help lower the potassium content in your diet. When your kidneys are not working normally, they may not be able to remove enough potassium. This can elevate the potassium in your blood to harmful levels. Monitoring your potassium levels with kidney disease is important for people with kidney disease. To lower the potassium content in your vegetables, you would boil your vegetables anywhere around 10 minutes. When it comes to potatoes, this technique is heavily used to lower potassium in potatoes with kidney disease. Sodium bicarbonate is the second thing you can use to reduce potassium. Sodium bicarbonate is a great alkalizer and it helps draw the potassium out of the cells and allows your body to naturally process and get rid of it. Sodium bicarbonate has been in use for a long time among CKD sufferers to improve metabolic acidosis. If you have kidney disease and you decide to use sodium bicarbonate to lower your potassium levels, you can take it in powder form, pills, or a delayed-release capsule. While taking sodium bicarbonate, the key is to take it between meals. If you don’t take them between meals, the sodium bicarbonate may throw off your stomach acids and may cause indigestion. If you take a delayed-release capsule, you can take it at any time. Those are two ways that you can naturally lower potassium with kidney disease.
