Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s meeting with First Lady of Turkey Emine Erdoğan has upset many netizens at home. Aamir Khan is in Turkey for the shooting of his upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha. As per the official website of Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, the first lady received Aamir Khan at the presidential residence at the Huber Mansion in Istanbul on August 15. First Lady Erdogan has also tweeted about the same. "I had the great pleasure of meeting @aamir_khan, the world-renowned Indian actor, filmmaker, and director, in Istanbul. I was happy to learn that Aamir decided to wrap up the shooting of his latest movie 'Laal Singh Chaddha' in different parts of Turkey. I look forward to it!" she tweeted. During the meeting, the first lady congratulated the actor on addressing social issues in his movies. "Mr Khan stated that he would complete the shooting of his latest film 'Laal Singh Chaddha', which couldn't be completed in India due to COVID-19, in Turkey, and invited First Lady Erdogan to the film set," the press release read further. However, Aamir's meeting with the Turkish First Lady has not gone down well with some netizens, who raised the issue of strained ties between India and Turkey. Earlier this year, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during his visit to Islamabad, had compared the situation in Kashmir with the Gallipoli campaign of the World War II. Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP)has lashed out at actor Aamir Khan after pictures of him with Turkish first lady Emine Erdoğan went viral on social media. Aamir khan is in Turkey to wrap up shooting for his upcoming movie 'Laal Singh Chadda'. VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal said, "Meeting Of Aamir khan with first Turkish Lady Emine Erdoğan shows that some actors in India are inclined towards countries which are Anti India." The first lady of Turkey Emine Erdoğan took to her official Twitter handle to share pictures with actor Aamir khan and expressed happiness over the meeting. She also wrote, "I was happy to learn that Aamir decided to wrap up the shooting of his latest movie 'Laal Singh Chaddha' in different parts of Turkey. I look forward to it." VHP also compared meeting of Aamir Khan with Emine Erdoğan to the statements made by All India Muslim Personal Law Board regarding Turkey after Bhoomipujan ceremony In Ayodhya. "Actors who have got fame and popularity in India are now feeling proud after meeting people from countries which are Anti India. The people of the country are bound to get hurt by this act of Aamir khan. Aamir khan should come out and give clarification on this," Vinod Bansal said in a statement. Social media users hit out at Aamir khan after his pics with Emine Erdoğan went viral. Many of the users commented that Turkey has taken Anti India to stand after scrapping of article 370 by the Indian government and Amir Khan shouldn't have met Turkish first lady. The shooting of 'Laal Singh Chaddha' was stalled after the Indian government announced nationwide lockdown owing to widespread coronavirus pandemic. The movie is expected to hit theatres next year.
