Wits University management says it's trying to find ways to increase funding that will accommodate more students, even for those that have been excluded due to poor academic performance. The institution says most of those who took part in today's protests, were denied funding because they failed their courses repeatedly. Students embarked on a shutdown, that was led by the student representative council. Some say they have been sleeping in libraries and lecture halls since the start of the academic year.
