Official visit of Azerbaijani President to Germany

WELCOMING AT BERLIN AIRPORT President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on 24 August 2004 has arrived in Berlin, capital of Germany. At the international Tegel Airport adorned with state flags of both countries, in honor of the Azerbaijani President was lined a guard of honor. President Ilham Aliyev was warmly welcomed by top officials of German Government, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Berlin Huseynaga Sadigov, staff members of the Embassy, German Ambassador to Baku Clause Grewlich, representatives of Azerbaijani Diaspora. Official welcoming ceremony in honor of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who is on his first official visit in the Federative Republic of Germany, was held at the official residence of the German President - at the Charlottenbourg Palace, on 25 August. Federal President of the Federative Republic of Germany Horst Koehler warmly greeted President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in front of the Palace. Presidents were taken their photos. Chief of the guard of honor reported to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev left notes in the book of memory. After the official welcoming ceremony ended, the Azeri and German Presidents had a meeting. Following the official welcoming ceremony, a meeting between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Federative Republic of Germany Horst Koehler was held at the latter's residence on 25 August 2004. On 25 August, 2004 President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received in his Berlin residence head of the Germany-Caucasus group at Bundestag Christoph Bergner. The same day President Ilham Aliyev met with head of the Bundestag Foreign Policy Committee Folker Ruhe. They widely talked in the meeting of situation in South Caucasus, settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Daghlig Garabagh (Nagorno-Karabakh), regional security, emphasized necessity for expansion of ties between parliamentary groups. Head of the Bundestag Committee mentioned great importance of interparliamentary relations for Germany, said they will increase efforts in this field. On 25 August, 2004 at the Adlon Hotel in Berlin, the German Company Siemens has arranged a business dinner in honor of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
