Devastation! M7.8 earthquake hits SE Turkey and greatly impacts Syria, causing hundreds of deaths

CCTV footage showed the moment a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck southern Turkey on Monday, killing several hundred people and injuring over 2,000 in Turkey and Syria as of Monday morning. The quake struck at a depth of 10 km near the southern Turkish city of Kahramanmaras and was also felt in Cyprus, Lebanon and Syria, even as far as Cairo in Egypt. A large number of buildings collapsed in Syria’s Aleppo, leaving more than 360 people dead and hundreds more wounded. In the Turkish-Syrian border region, residents were jolted out of sleep by the pre-dawn quake and rushed outside into a cold, rainy and snowy winter night as buildings were flattened and strong aftershocks continued. The death toll is subject to rapid changes as an unspecified number of people in both countries are still believed to have gone missing, possibly stuck underneath the rubble. Chinese embassy in Turkey says there are no Chinese casualties so far. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents. Nobody knows SHANGHAI better than us.
