The Call of Saint Matthew: From Tax Collector to Apostle (21 September)
Today the Church celebrates the Feast of Saint Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist. In this homily/reflection, we meditate on the powerful Gospel reading of Matthew’s conversion—from despised tax collector to faithful disciple, apostle, evangelist, and martyr. Jesus’ call, “Follow me,” was enough to completely change Matthew’s life. This is the heart of the Christian vocation: leaving behind sin, answering the Lord’s call, and living in holiness. ✨ In this video, we reflect on: The significance of Saint Matthew’s conversion. How the Lord calls each of us to follow Him in our vocation. What the life of Saint Matthew teaches us about holiness and discipleship. The ultimate Christian goal: serving God in this life and being with Him forever in the next. 🙏 May this Feast of Saint Matthew inspire us to answer Christ’s call daily with faith and courage.
