Billy Gibbons from Audlem is interviewed about his Lottery win, thanks to Lucky The Chicken. The Lottery win itself wasn't particularly life-changing, but the way the numbers were chosen caught the imagination of the nation. Lucky the Chicken was rescued by Billy from a field near his home and as she was near death, was given a special room in Billy's home in which to recover from her ordeal. But this wasn't actually how Lucky got her name.... Lucky (formerly named Kiev), was resting in her room one day whilst Billy was not at home, and decided to repay her new owners generosity. She somehow managed to knock a calculator off a shelf whilst trying to get into a bag of corn, and proceeded to peck out numbers on the calculator which Billy noticed upon his return. A flash of inspiration came over Billy as he was about to turn off the calculator and he decided to take the numbers and use them to fill out a lottery ticket. However, there were only 5 numbers that could be used, so Billy added the 6th number himself (it was the number 37 which was on the side if his 1950's Hot Rod). Would you believe it that when the numbers were drawn, the 5 numbers which Kiev chose were 5 of the winning Lottery numbers, netting Billy a not-so-poultry £1,297! That particular week was another roll-over week on the Lottery and the jackpot would have been a whopping £9m.....imagine all the chicken corn that would have bought! B.J.C.
