Texarkana man dies after truck hits curb, utility pole

TEXARKANA, Texas - A man is dead following after his pick-up truck hits a curb and breaks a utility pole in Texarkana. The crash happened around 1:45 p.m. Monday at Piney Rd. and New Boston Rd. Randy Smith, 62, of Texarkana, Arkansas, died in the accident. Authorities believe Smith may have had a medical episode when his white Ford pick-up truck struck the curb. Smith's wife and his four grandchildren ages 3 to 12 were also in the vehicle. They were all taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. According to investigators not everyone was wearing a seatbelt. Smith will undergo an autopsy to determine his exact cause of death.
