This afternoon, just after 2:30 pm, five people were shot at a Bryan cabinet factory. One was dead on the scene and four were critical. The shooter fled the scene. According to DPS Lt. Cummings, a DPS Trooper encountered the suspect on FM 39 near Iola at which time the suspect shot the Trooper. The Trooper was flown from the scene by PHI Air Medical to St. Joseph in Bryan where he is currently in surgery and reported to be in critical but stable condition. The suspect was later taken into custody near the Grimes/Walker County line on CR 117 at FM 1696 as he was heading toward Huntsville. Grimes County, Walker County, DPS, Texas Rangers, and Brazos County are currently checking a home in the Bedias Community as it has not yet been determined if the suspect acted alone. There has not yet been an update on the reason for the shooting as this is a very active multi-agency investigation. The Trooper has not yet been identified.
