How Aayla Secura Wore Revealing Clothing For A Virtuous Reason

Why Did Aayla Secura Wear Such Revealing Clothing? When it came to clothing, the Jedi pretty much all wore bland, loose fitting tunics. The Jedi were meant to be fully focused on their study and worship of the force. Therefore, they were strongly discouraged from focusing upon materialistic objects used for showcasing wealth such as clothing. They also heavily frowned upon attachments and therefore, seductive clothing was strongly discouraged. Instead, almost total uniformity was expected of all Jedi members. However, this was not the case for Aayla Secura. This Twilek was often seen wearing revealing clothing, with it often being very extravagant. So why did Aayla Secura do away with the Jedi robes and choose to wear such tight fitting and revealing clothing? To understand why, we must take a minute to understand Securas, background, her desires and most importantly her species. But before we begin, make sure to give this video a like and comment below. The Twi'leks had a long and dark past filled with slavery and oppression. Although they were one of the most common species in the Galaxy, they were also some of the most diverse. Twi'leks skin spanned a vast array of bright colours, while they were usually thin and physically fit, leading many to see them as exotic and beautiful. Unfortunately, this resulted in Twi'leks being exported from their homeworld of ryloth into slavery. The women were often forced to become dancers, entertainers or other similar professions, while the men were forced into the spice mining trade. In legends, slavery was the main currency on Ryloth. Many made money by capturing orphaned children and selling them to slave traders. Impoverished Twi'leks would often hand themselves over to slave traders in the hopes that slavery would provide them and their children a better life. Some Twi'leks higher ups even saw the slavery as a good thing. They believed that slavery was an effective means of propogating their species across the Galaxy. What's more they also took pride in the fact that so many believed their women to be beautiful. The issue of slavery was made worse by the lack of resistance amoung the Twiilek population. Although some members of the species were effective warriors, many believed in the manta of riding the storm rather than defeating it. This basically meant that Twiileks generally believed their was no point taking a stand on most issues and that it was better to just allow things to happen. This lack of resistance only made them more effective slaves and more sought after, while also making them even easier to capture. As a result, Twi'leks were often looked down upon by other species, viewing them as a lesser species who were no good for anything but work as entertainers or spice miners. Secura was from the more hostile part of her homeworld and was originally hidden amoungst the slaves of a local Hutt ruler. If she had not been found by the Jedi it is likely she would have become an entertainer or worse, a slave in a spice mine. Fortunately she was saved by Quinlan Vos and she was inducted into the Jedi order. However, she never forgot her past or her people. Although attachment was forbidden within the Jedi, Aayla Secura struggled immensely with it. As a young girl she formed a powerful force bond with her master, Quinlan Vos. She even described Vos to be like a father to her. Later on, she would even form a brief relationship with Kit Fisto, although she eventually broke this off to focus on being a Jedi. Initially, her troubled past manifested itself as a complete rejection of her Twi'lek identity. She wore the traditional Jedi clothes to get away from the more revealing clothes that were stereotypically worn by Twiileks. She bought in to many of the negative stereotypes about her people and she soon became embarrassed of her own species. However, her master, Quinlan Vos was unlike many of the other Jedi. He taught her to be proud of where she came from and embrace her Twiilek identity, telling her not to be ashamed. After contemplating his teachings, Aayla decided that she wanted to break many of the stereotypes about her people and inspire young Twiileks across the galaxy in the hopes that this would help many break free from their slavery. #aayasecura #jedi #clonewars
